You can take the links and add it to your post, maybe in a freeze dry company's section. Then I'll delete this thread. I'm sure J-son won't mind to grab his links either.

Re: Alternative freeze dry companies

ok....
i have gotten curious about all these freeze dried foods and i bought a variety pack of alpineaire foods.....
i received it yesterday and today for dinner i wasnt that hungry since i had a big lunch but i decided to make an item from the box of pouches....
Soup-er Split Pea Soup.

all i did was remove the oxygen absorber and dumped the pouch into a bowl and added 1.5 cups of boiling water and waited a dozen minutes...stirred it and ate it.

impressions:
the soup was definitely good...i wouldnt say the best split pea soup but nowhere near the worst. I would not only eat it again but look forward to trying the other foods it came with. I ate this pouch since it was one of the smaller pouches and one of the lesser caloried foods. If i had a smaller lunch i wouldve had a larger pouched item instead.

today for lunch i brought the peanut butter and crackers package from alpineaire foods.
there were two packets of peanut butter and several crackers.
tasted yummy

last night i ate the alpineaire peach crumble....didnt like it very much...it had a weird spice taste to it and the crumble topping was more like fine sand particles and not crumble pieces. the actual peaches were pretty good but overall i wouldnt want it again.

i also tried the Hazelnut Bavarian Chocolate Creme from alpineaire...it was made with cold water and was a loose pudding like consistency. i though it was better than the peach dessert but didnt think it was so great and my wife absolutely hated it and told me to throw it out. i didnt think it was that bad but it wasnt anything great.
